Film 19 - Sunflowers of Inferno (Die Sonnenblumen des Höllenfeuers)

„Everyone
really wants to see the sunflowers. Is it impossible to get some tickets, after
all?”


Conan and
the kids are sitting in the meeting room of Jirokichi Suzuki with the other
experts.


“Please!”


Ayumi, Mitsuhiko
and Genta are begging while Jirokochi is thinking about this request carefully
and eventually agrees.


“Really?
Hooray!”


“But in
return I expect you to work even harder to protect the sunflowers from Kid!”


“Well then,
please do your best, Kid-Killer-san” Haibara adds with a smirk.


Kumiko-san,
who is sitting at the opposite side of the table, turns to the kids. “Do you
like the sunflowers that much?”


„It’s amazing
that all of them are being shown together!“


“There’ll
never a be a second chance to see them like this!”


“We’ll buy
lots of souvenirs!”


The others
experts smile at the kids and Keiko asks them another question.


“What do
you like about the sunflowers then?”


Genta grins
at her. “I don’t really know, but the sunflowers are amazing right?”


Mitsuhiko
rolls his eyes at him. “Genta, they’re amazing because they were painted by Van
Gogh!”


“Yes, they’re
works from Gogh, that’s why I like them!” Ayumi agrees.


Keiko gives
them a wry smile. “O-Oh, so you’re not that interested in the sunflowers itself
after all, huh.” Conan listens to the whole thing and is just embarrassed.


„Those guys…
are they planning to spoil the whole thing just after being granted some
tickets?“


Meanwhile,
Haibara takes a closer look at the big monitor at the front of the table and
compares the seven paintings. “Not all of them have a signature, do they?”


Natsumi
beams at her. “Amazing! You have good eyes, don’t you?”


The others
kids take a closer look at the monitor as well. “Which one? Where?”


“Take a
good look! It’s the first, the second and the fifth one!”


“Oh, she’s
right! Right next to the vase!”


After
Natsumi gave them a hint the rest of the kids were able to spot the difference
as well. Said pictures don’t have any signatures shown, just like she said.


„There is
also a theory that those three paintings are actually fake.”


As Natsumi
proceeds to explain, Keiko and Kouji are starting to give her a doubtful look.


“Especially
the fifth one, which was stolen and returned by Kid. Above the fact that the
signature is missing, the composition differs greatly from the other paintings,
which is why many people in the past have already assumed that the fifth one is
a fake.”


„Natsumi!“


Keiko
suddenly interrupts her. „Are you still going on about this?“


“There is
no point in telling those kids about those fake-theories.”


Kumiko and
Kouji are eyeing Natsumi critically.


“Weren’t
there any signatures added because those painting were given to people who knew
Van Gogh personally?”


“That’s
right!“


Conan and
Haibara are looking back and forth between the arguing experts.


“If someone
really intended those painting to be a copy they would have just faked the
signatures, too, instead of leaving them all together.”


Natsumi
agrees reluctantly. “Well, yes…”


Eventually
the kids join. “Hey, please don’t fight!”


“We don’t
really care whether it’s fake or not!”


“Yes, we
believe both theories to be true so please don’t fight!”


Natsumi
becomes all quiet, while the other experts are smiling at the kids. “We’re not
fighting so don’t worry. Sorry to make you worry!”


The
athmosphere is back to normal and Charlie, who was standing in the back of the
room, glances at his watch and turns to Mr. Suzuki. “Anyway, I think it’s time
to continue the meeting…”
